Superman Digital Release Date Reportedly Set for James Gunn’s DCU Movie

The digital release date for James Gunn’s Superman movie may have been revealed.

Superman was released in United States theaters in July 2025. Written and directed by Gunn, the DCU movie stars David Corenswet as the titular superhero, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and more.

When is Superman’s digital release date reportedly set for?

According to outlet When to Stream‘s sources, Superman will be released on VOD and digital platforms on August 26, 2025. This has not been officially announced or confirmed by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, meaning it is only a rumor at this time and should be taken with a grain of salt.

The synopsis for the film reads, “Superman, DC Studios’ first feature film to hit the big screen, is set to soar into theaters worldwide this summer from Warner Bros. Pictures. In his signature style, James Gunn takes on the original superhero in the newly imagined DC universe with a singular blend of epic action, humor, and heart, delivering a Superman who’s driven by compassion and an inherent belief in the goodness of humankind.”

The cast of the movie further includes Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt/Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Rex Mason/Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, Christopher McDonald as Ron Troupe, Pruitt Taylor Vince as Jonathan Kent, Neva Howell as Martha Kent, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, and María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica/The Engineer.

Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU officially kicked off in 2024 with the animated Creature Commandos series, which is getting a second season. Following Superman, the next DCU project is Peacemaker Season 2, which premieres on HBO Max later this month.
